Every once in a while, I often think about how it would be nice to start my own business. Maybe get into building small-to-medium scale business websites for the locals. With all the great open source software out there these days, it’s never been easier to dive into building a business on the web.

Seeing how various people have used their blogs for business is interesting. It’s a great way to promote yourself and your qualifications. It’s much better than throwing your resume on a website and emailing to people. With a blog, you can post work that you’ve done, works in progress, and various business related things that can give a client prospect a better idea of your qualifications.

Adam Kalsey just wrote an interesting blog about building your brand and how blogs could improve your business image by treating your blog as a marketing vehicle.

Since I put up this blog, I’ve originally thought about making this a personal blog/website. However, I find that most of the time, the blogs I read are mostly related to what I do in my professional life… like technology topics that interest me. However, since I’m trying to avoid creating multiple blogs, I’ve also been posting things that may not be related to my professional life. Now, I’m in a pickle… do I want to keep doing that or do I want this site to be more of a blog about a certain set of topics related to my professional life. Certainly, my readership might go up since I don’t think there are very many people out there that want to read about my dog Truman.

Hmmm… gotta decide what to do with this site soon.
