This is the view from Intramuros. In the past, Intramuros was surrounded by water. Today, it's surrounded by a golf course.
[via Yahoo! Travel:]This is where General MacArthur had his unofficial headquarters before World War II. Other luminaries who have stayed here include Ernest Hemingway and Douglas Fairbanks. The lobby exudes an Old World feeling, with floors of Philippine marble, narra wood and mahogany ceilings, and mother-of-pearl and brass chandeliers. The MacArthur Club, which is reached by a private elevator, serves complimentary breakfast. Room decor re-creates the colonial era with nostalgic artwork and intricate wood paneling that recalls traditional motifs. The best rooms face the bay and the pool.
